I have always been enamored by the works of the great Masters. I marveled at their use of color, value, perspective and composition.This book will guide you through exploring a method of painting with pencils that is different from what most colored pencil artists use. The unique semi-transparency of colored pencils lends itself particularly well to first creating a grayed painting using complementary colors and then lightly adding layers of color on top. You'll learn how to work from the darkest colors to the lightest, much like the Masters (and myself) would do. Your colors will be richer and deeper and your lights will appear to be more brilliant. Outline drawings for each still life in the book are provided so you can follow along with the step-by-step demonstrations. Each lesson acts as a building block that culminates in a large final still life. |
